Advent in the mountains

When it smells of gingerbread and cinnamon in the house, the fire flickers in the fireplace and the snow covers the valley, Christmas is not far away. A dreamlike winter landscape and the in-house nativity scene at Hotel Lavendel create a very special atmosphere. Here Advent is a unique experience.

1st day arrival Windischgarsten

Visit of the Advent market Windischgarsten - atmospheric welcome at the Christmas crib with homemade mulled wine and fruit bread. Orchestral brass players play in the glow of the fire.

2nd day romantic city of Steyr at Christmas time, Christkindl (special post office)

The unique ambience of the Christkindlstadt Steyr at Christmas time characterizes the atmospheric, fine Christmas market on the historic town square. A "Singing Nativity", Advent bubbles, Schmiedeweihnacht and much more round off the Christmas atmosphere. Also experience the famous pilgrimage church Christkindl, visit the Pöttmesser Nativity and the Mechanical Nativity and send your Christmas mail via the Christmas post office.
In the evening: Krampus and Santa Claus

3rd day Ski World Cup resort Hinterstoder and Nigloumzug

After breakfast, drive to the World Cup resort of Hinterstoder, where you can marvel at one of the most magnificent mountain backdrops in the Alps, during a wintry walk to the Polsterstube. In the Polsterstube you can enjoy farmer's doughnuts and hot mulled cider.
In the evening traditional Nigloumzug in Windischgarsten (intangible UNESCO world cultural heritage).

Day 4 Capital Linz

Discovering Linz - enjoying diversity - with the Pöstlingbergbahn up Linz's local mountain
Hop on the cable car and climb up Linz's Pöstlingberg! With the Pöstlingbergbahn (Europe's steepest adhesion railroad, listed in the Guinness Book of Records), even the journey to the summit of Linz's local mountain is a special experience! The journey from the city to nature is comfortable and relaxed. (Ascent mountain railroad not included in the tour price)
Afterwards, continue to the city tour with the slow train and free time.
Visit the Christmas market on the main square and in the Volksgarten or explore
the city on your own the cathedral, the pedestrian zone or eat a piece of
traditional Linzer Torter in a cozy coffee shop.

Day 5 Journey home

With many pre-Christmas impressions we start our return journey.
