Stresa - The Pearl of Lake Maggiore

Stresa is situated on Lake Maggiore on the bay where the picturesque Borromean islands (Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori) are in a very impressive position. This particular location, the mild climate and the beauty of the landscape and architecture, which blend harmoniously, attract thousands of tourists every year. 
The real heart of the city - even more than Piazza Cadorna - a beautiful corner with shops, cafés and restaurants, is the impressive lakeside promenade: from this elegant avenue, past lush gardens and colorful flower beds, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the Gulf of Borromeo on one side and the enchanting villas and luxury hotels on the other.

Day 1 Arrival - Welcome to Lake Maggiore, welcome to picturesque Stresa

The Hotel Flora is situated in a quiet location in the immediate vicinity of the jetty from which you can reach the Borromean Islands. The center of Stresa can be reached in about 10 minutes on foot, along a unique lakeside promenade.
The hotel has been recently renovated and presents itself in an elegant atmosphere, in harmony with the excellent service and the high level of comfort. Particular emphasis is also placed on refined cuisine, from the purchase of exquisite products to their refined preparation.

Day 2 Lake Maggiore - cigar factory - Locarno
Before you lies the sun-drenched Lake Maggiore, a pearl of nature. Definitely worth a photo stop are the impressive ruins of Cannero Castle, jutting out of the water in a seemingly unreal way, built on two rocky islands. It's hard to believe, but in Brisaggo, in the Centro Dannemann, cigars of top international quality are produced. An enjoyable guided tour awaits you. Locarno, the city of palm, olive and almond trees, delights with its Mediterranean flair. During the city tour, visit the Castello Visconteo, once the seat of the ruling Milanese Visconti family. Spend hours at leisure on the shores of the lake.

Day 3 Borromean Islands - Stresa
We weigh anchor and head for the Borromean Islands, of which Isola Bella is without doubt the most famous. Once a settlement of fishermen, today it shines with the palace completed in 1670 and the magnificent gardens laid out in ten terraces. In contrast to the other islands, the neighboring Isola Pescatori has retained its time-honored charm. There is still an idyllic, picturesque fishing village here, with traditional fishing boats moored on the shore. (Admission to the Borromean Islands not included in the tour price) A short tour of the town of Stresa, where scenic and architectural beauty blend harmoniously together, and the rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 4 Sacro Monte - Orta San Giulio
Lake Orta transports you back in time and seduces you with its peaceful atmosphere. Here lies San Giulio, which delights with its ancient town center. The atmosphere in Piazza Mario Motta is stunning. The square is probably the best stage from which to view the small lake. The little funicular takes you up to the local mountain, the Sacro Monte, a place for resting body and soul. The silhouette of the mighty Benedictine monastery rises up on the island in the lake. Cross over and marvel at the baroque interior of the basilica

Day 5 Journey home
Unfortunately, it's time to say goodbye again today.
