The state capital of Saxony and at the same time "German Florence" impresses above all with its historical and unmistakable buildings, such as the Semper Opera House, Frauenkirche and Zwinger, embedded in the charming surroundings of the wide Elbe meadows. As one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany, Dresden's Striezelmarkt dates back to 1434. It is named after the pastry Striezel, a forerunner of the Dresden Christmas Stollen. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany.
