Because of its numerous churches, the former Thomas-Müntzer-City is also called "The City of Towers". The medieval old town centre with numerous historic buildings is still surrounded by the 2750m long and completely preserved city wall. Situated directly on the "Deutsche Fachwerk Straße", Mühlhausen is one of the most beautiful cities in Thuringia. Mühlhausen is crowned by the Marienkirche in the upper town, the largest church in Thuringia after Erfurt Cathedral. After an interesting discovery tour, small cafés and cosy pubs invite you to linger.
1st day arrival Mühlhausen - room distribution and cosy dinner
The family-run 3-star Superior Brauhaus zum Löwen is situated in the middle of the historic old town of Mühlhausen. Here you can enjoy pure GENUSS far away from the hustle and bustle and treat yourself to a break from everyday life. The central location of the house allows a variety of leisure activities - whether exploring or simply strolling in the traditional half-timbered town. In the cosy restaurant "Malztenne" you dine right next to the brewing kettles, where the "Brauhaus Pilsener" and the "Apotheker Dunkel" are brewed according to the bottom-fermented brewing method.
Day 2 Historical tour of the old town
After a cosy breakfast you experience a historical old town guidance in one of the most beautiful cities of Thuringia - Mühlhausen. The medieval imperial and Hanseatic city impresses with its 13 churches, the preserved city wall and the many lovingly restored half-timbered houses. In the afternoon visit to the brewery - experience the brewing tradition up close. During a guided tour of the brewery by the master brewer.
3rd day day trip to Eisenach to Wartburg and Erfurt
After breakfast drive to Eisenach. The most famous landmark of the city, the historic Wartburg Castle, towers high above Eisenach. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. Stay for an individual tour of the Wartburg Castle (entrance fee and guided tour not included in the RP). Then on to Erfurt, the state capital of Thuringia. Besides the impressive cathedral, the Krämerbrücke, the longest bridge in Europe built and inhabited with houses, is a landmark of Erfurt. Explore the city centre individually.
