Bus Travel Description

Switzerland's natural paradises - clear the way for the most spectacular Alpine crossings on the Bernina and Glacier Express.
Two railway lines - a unique experience. The train journeys on the Bernina and Glacier Express offer overwhelming views of imposing mountain peaks. The trains cross wild gorges on bold routes and climb high passes.

Trip Itinerary

1st day arrival in the Engadin to Pontresina
Wildly romantic, sunny and sheltered from the wind. Pontresina lies at 1,805 metres in a side valley of the Upper Engadine. Very close to the Bernina massif with the two best-known peaks of the Engadine: Piz Palü and Piz Bernina. The latter, at 4,049 m, is the highest peak in the Eastern Alps.
You stay in the centre of Pontresina at the Hotel Schweizerhof. The rooms are equipped with bathroom or shower/WC, hairdryer, telephone, minibar and TV. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

2nd day excursion Bernina Express
Travel with the legendary Bernina Express from Pontresina to Tirano (or vice versa). The spectacular train ride takes you on the UNESCO World Heritage route over bold viaducts, through unspoilt mountain landscapes and past mighty glaciers to over the 2,253 m high Bernina Pass. Down it goes in curvy drive to Italy in the picturesque Veltlin to Tirano, where you are expected by your bus. Free time in Tirano before we take the bus back to our hotel in Pontresina. Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel Schweizerhof.

3rd day excursion Glacier Express
Today's day is dedicated to the Glacier Express, the famous "slowest express train in the world". After breakfast we will take the bus from Pontresina to St. Moritz, where the Glacier Express will take you to a magnificent mountain world. Through the romantic Rhine Gorge and along the Vorderrhein via Disentis to the 2,044 m high Oberalp Pass. Up here you will experience a breathtaking high mountain landscape. You will now descend to Brig, where you will be expected by your bus to take you to your hotel in Täsch. Room distribution and dinner at the Hotel Täscherhof. Central yet quiet, the mountain hotel in the typical Valais style. The comfortable rooms are equipped with bath or shower/WC, radio, TV, telephone, safe and WLAN. Relax in the wellness area with sauna, whirlpool, solarium and home trainer (some for a fee). The hotel has a garden terrace, restaurant and barrel cellar - a former wine cellar where regional raclette specialities are served. It is equipped with old tools, wine barrels, fireplace and pitchforks.

Day 4: Drive to Zermatt with the opportunity to ascend the Gornergrat.
After breakfast we take the train from Täsch to Zermatt. The village at the foot of the Matterhorn, the most photographed mountain in the world. Almost a third of all 4000m peaks in the Alps are grouped around the village. Zermatt air is clear, dry and clean, because only electric cars without combustion engines run in the village.
Opportunity to drive up to the Gornergrat (not included in the fare). Experience the breathtaking beauty of nature surrounded by 29 four-thousand-metre peaks. In the afternoon return journey with the train from Zermatt to Täsch and dinner together and overnight stay in the hotel Täscherhof in Täsch.

5th day homeward journey
With many beautiful impressions of the Swiss mountains we start our journey home.
